when you have an Operation
We know that having an operation can be a stressful time,
and organising it can sometimes be complicated and confusing.
We're here to help, so please remember you can always ask us questions!
Dr Kapila is a Private Surgeon, and only operates at Private Hospitals.
When you have a private operation, there are always 3 fees:
- Surgeon - If you have medicare, you should get some rebate. If you have a fund, you might get some additional rebate. There is always an out-of-pocket which depends on the degree of these rebates.
- Anaesthetist - If you have medicare, you should get some rebate. If you have a fund, you might get some additional rebate. There is always an out-of-pocket which depends on the degree of these rebates.
- Hospital - If you have a fund (and depending on the policy) the fund usually covers this fee. If your policy does not cover it, or you don't have a fund, you can call the hospitals to find out their fees by telling them the surgical item numbers.
To get started finding out your fees, Dr Kapila will assess you. If a surgical option is available to you, we will send you the Surgical Quote.
This allows you to see your Surgeon Fee, estimated rebates and out-of-pocket.
You can use this quote to call your fund to find out if your Hospital Fee is covered, or call the hospitals to find out their fees.
After the operation, you may need some physical rest to recover.
This may mean you may need some time off work, studies or school, or gym and exercise. Sometimes when you return to those, you need a few weeks of light duties/activities.
If you need one, we can provide you with a medical certificate to indicate your post-op instructions and requirements.
